In the heart of one of our city's most appreciated parks, the community gathers to enjoy a long-standing tradition of outdoor live music with a food truck rally on six different occasions each summer. Family friendly music brings all walks of life together, and spectators are encouraged to bring their "furry" friends as well. We encourage you to join us in celebrating our 26th annual gulley park summer concert series. We are confident if you attend one show , you will undeniably be back for the remaining shows! the gulley park summer concert series includes six concerts in all. Concerts are on thursday evenings 7-9 p.
News may 11, 2021 downtown bentonville inc. And city sessions will continue the popular neighborhood concert series in 2021, with a packed lineup of local musical heavyweights. The monthly concerts will pop up in bentonville neighborhoods, parks, and parking lots from may to october. The neighborhood concert series was created and launched amid the covid-19 pandemic in 2020 to create a unique and safe live music experience for bentonville neighborhoods. It also provided income and an opportunity for local musicians to perform while music venues remained closed. This year, with covid-19 cases declining in arkansas and vaccines actively available to all community members, the pop-up concerts will be open to the public.
Cash began performing concerts at prisons in the late 1950s. He played his first famous prison concert on january 1, 1958, at san quentin state prison. These performances led to a pair of highly successful live albums, johnny cash at folsom prison (1968) and johnny cash at san quentin (1969). Both live albums reached number one on billboard country album music and the latter crossed over to reach the top of the billboard pop album chart. In 1969, cash became an international hit when he eclipsed even the beatles by selling 6. 5million albums. In comparison, the prison concerts were much more successful than his later live albums such as strawberry cake recorded in london and live at madison square garden, which peaked at numbers 33 and 39 on the album charts, respectively.

Each year the department of music offers over 200 concerts and recitals featuring
students, faculty, and guest artists. Our ensembles include large performing groups
like the razorback marching band and the jazz orchestra and smaller groups such as
the arkansas soul band and the new music ensemble. With over 25 standing ensembles,
world-acclaimed guests, and stellar students and faculty performances, there is truly
something for everyone in each concert season.
